This is the promised update on What the Frack? a previous post about the potential storage of fracking waste in Mansfield. The petition was available for signing at the CSA Thursday at Shundahai Farm in Mansfield. I spoke to the one of the women in possession of the petition and she informed me that there is not a proposed site in Mansfield for storing fracking waste. I thought that may be a tough sell to Virginia Walton, Mansfield’s recycling coordinator!
The petition will be available for signing Saturday, August 29th at the Willimantic Food Coop and at the Celebrate Mansfield Festival Sunday, September 20th.
They are working on getting the petition in more hands and more places. Other towns are also joining in with their own petitions. You can get more information about the environmental impact of fracking and fracking waste at foodandwaterwatch.org.
