I managed once again to score an invite (thanks to my mother-in-law, Bev) to Glen Ridge Cooperative to attend the official opening and dedication of the new Glen Ridge Pavilion last night. If you don’t know, Glen Ridge is the only Mansfield Storrs 55+ active adult community and one of only two cooperatives in Connecticut.
This evening was an opportunity for Glen Ridge Administrator, Bob Kremer to formally dedicate the pavilion to longtime resident and benefactor Jack Rice who recently passed away and to encourage all residents to take full advantage of the social opportunities the pavilion will provide. Bob was also able to introduce some of the impressive features the pergola provides with a remote control, such as three sets of louvered blinds that open individually or in unison and rain gutters which ensure the pavilion is available in the event of inclement weather.
Bob also acknowledged Glen Ridge resident, Chris Boucher, who has played a key role in seeing the pavilion through to fruition and the many residents on the boards and committees that were key in the planning for this great addition to the Glen Ridge Community.
It was a great turnout with beautiful weather, beloved local entertainer Bruce John as the featured act to “rock the Ridge”, dinner, refreshments and dessert. Residents invited family and friends for a nice evening of laid back entertainment, relaxation and to savor their newly enhanced Glen Ridge community.
Real estate wise, Glen Ridge prices are climbing and availability is scarce at the moment. The units that have commanded the highest prices have been updated through the years with remodeled kitchens, baths and /or have finished basements. Units that have not been updated and/or do not offer a basement are selling at lower prices.
There are a few units that should be coming on the market shortly however, some are selling off market because the demand is high and there is a waiting list of interested parties. If you are interested in taking a tour of Glen Ridge and/or want to know more about purchasing a cooperative (different from purchasing a home) contact me and I would be happy to assist. As a preferred Realtor at Glen Ridge, I am a resource for those who are unfamiliar with this type of ownership and I have personally assisted in several purchases and sales in the Glen Ridge community. And as I said, my mother-in-law lives there so I am a frequent visitor and know my way around.
